“The First Amendment protects freedom of religion,” reads a statement from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office (D-Nev.). “Senator Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built someplace else. . . .”
The fuck this has to do with Reno. . . ?
h/t: Huffington Post (because, as of 9:23pm EST, there is no mention of this statement on Reid’s senate website.)

just shows that there is about as much science/predictive-powers to politics as there is to advertising, just a lot of projective guessing, wishing, and in this case paranoia.
I’m not sure which disappoints me more: that statement, or Obama’s backpedaling on what he said last week…
@dmf: If I were an Americanist (i.e., a member of the subfield most likely to engage in promiscuous quantification), I’d be offended.
But I am a political theorist, so I am not.
@gh: There was a whole shebang at TNC’s joint about Obama’s statement and clarification and was it walk-/back-pedal or not. . . I dunno. He upheld the principle, which mattered. What Reid did is just crass, and for no good goddamned reason.
if i wasn’t clear i meant that the dems were being paranoid and in reid’s case quite cowardly, certainly don’t mean any offense tho i stand by the tea-reading, pardon the pun, folks often discover causality with hindsight but objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear…
Let’s get real. If all the idiots had to depend on Hobamacare…..would this really matter? Whats good for the Goose is good for the Gander?
WE vote the assholes into these jobs. WE should be able to call them back.
Let’s try this insurance crap…..if we don’t like it….have a national referendum.
It’s our deal….not theirs. Shit.
