I have no idea whether it was good to do this now or it would have been better to wait, whether the two articles were sufficient or they should have added more, or what effect this will have on the congressional and presidential elections in 2020.

Nobody knows: this is only the third impeachment vote in the US’s history, and it’s damned hard to generate solid conclusions based off of 3n. And, of course, I swore off predictions after the 2016 elections.

So it may help, hurt, or have no effect on the Dems’ chances next year—and no matter what the results, it will still be hard to suss out the effects of impeachment from all other variables.

It had to be done, regardless.
